Spring Driven Cable Reeling Drums
Spring Driven Cable Reeling Drums are driven by special helical springs. Generally springs have a limited life. Due to continuous winding and unwinding operation normal fatigue sets in. If the best material is used, the springs will show signs of fatigue after approx 40,000 to 50,000 movements. This metal fatigue can lead to breakage of the springs. Any small oscillation of the spring to be considered as one movement.
There are two types of spring drums. In one type the springs are mounted on the drum shaft and tensioning is achieved by rotation of the drum body. In the other type, the springs are accommodated in a separate housing i.e. a spring motor. The spring motor facilities easy spring replacement, without disconnecting / removing the trailing cable.
Hose Reeling Drum
ELECTRO ZAVOD Hose Reeling Drums are driven by springs. In the hose reeling drum, in place of slipring unit, a rotary valve is fitted. This rotary valve is suitable for air, water, gas etc. Standard rotary valves are suitable for air, water and rated for 10 bar. Please specify if drums are to be used for high pressure.
Slip-Ring-Less Cable Reeling Drum
Slipringless Cable Reeling Drums employ two drums and between these two drums the trailing cable is coiled without any intermediate sliprings or contacts. Cable Reeling Drums of this types are used for measuring leads in load cells and ideal for use in hazardous environment. Since there are no sliprings and open contacts special certification for use in hazardous area is not required. The Cable Reeling Drum consists of the main drum body, and two auxiliary drums. A rotating roller arm with deflector sheave and counter weight coils the cable. The drive for the drum is throught springs. When the cable is unwound from the main drum. the rotating arm coils the cable from one auxiliary drum to the other. When the cable is wound on the drum the operation is reversed. Due to this double coil arrangement twisting of the cable is eliminated.
